Talk at your normal pace. Ramble a bit. If music is playing, Yappng pauses it while you talk and starts it again when you stop.
Let go. It's typed.
Release the key and your words land at the cursor with capitals and punctuation, just as if you'd typed them yourself.

How does it work without the internet?
Yappng runs open-source speech models, such as OpenAI's Whisper, right on your computer. The first time you open it, it downloads a model that suits your computer, once. After that it never needs the internet to transcribe. Your audio never leaves your device.
Which apps does it work with?
Basically all of them: email, Slack, Google Docs, Word, VS Code, Terminal, browser forms, ChatGPT and so on. If you can type somewhere, Yappng can type there.
Which computers does it run on?
Macs with Apple Silicon or Intel chips on macOS 13 or later, and PCs on Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) or Windows 11, ARM laptops included. It uses the graphics chip on Apple Silicon and on Windows PCs with NVIDIA, AMD or Intel graphics. On other machines it runs on the processor, with lighter models so it stays quick.
Windows says "Windows protected your PC". Is that safe?
Yes. Windows shows that message for apps from new, independent developers that haven't built up a reputation with Microsoft yet. Click More info, then Run anyway. The Mac version is signed and notarized by Apple.
How accurate is it? What about other languages?
Today Yappng uses OpenAI's Whisper large models, which are among the most accurate speech models you can run on your own computer, and we may add other models as better ones come out. The Balanced and Most Accurate models understand dozens of languages and work out which one you're speaking. The Fast model is English only.
Is the free version really free forever?
Yes. There's no trial that runs out and no credit card. You get 15 transcriptions a day on one device for as long as you want. Upgrade only if you want unlimited use or more devices.
What does "share your license" mean?
Yappng licenses count devices, not people. One key works on 5 computers with Forever 5 and on 10 with Forever 10, and it doesn't matter whose they are. Put it on your laptop and desktop, or give it to your partner, your kids, a friend or a coworker. It's up to you.
Really no subscription? What's the catch?
There isn't one. Forever 5 covers every Yappng 1.x release. If there's a big 2.0 one day, it'll be a separate optional upgrade, and the version you bought keeps working forever. Forever 10 covers every future version, 2.0 and beyond, at no extra cost.
